WHAT IS A ROADMAP?

A roadmap is a high-level strategic overview of a significant business initiative. Roadmaps are typically used to manage the development of a new product or the execution of a company-wide project. To put it simply, a roadmap is a strategic plan that outlines or identifies a goal or desired outcome and details the essential steps or milestones needed to get it.

BENEFIT OF A ROADMAP

  1. Roadmaps keep the team members informed about the goals, timeframe, and scope of an effort.

  2. A more graphic method of seeing a plan. Roadmaps' visual nature makes it simple to share outcomes, deadlines, projects, and objectives across an organization.

  3. Roadmaps make it easier for individuals in control to immediately publish status updates and discuss goals.

TWO MAIN ROLES IN TECH

When making the journey into technology, it's critical to understand the two primary roles to determine where you see yourself fitting in. Among their duties are:

  1. Technical or Developer role

  2. Non-Technical or Non-Developer Roles

UNDERSTANDING YOUR STRENGTHS AND SKILLS

Yewande Odumosu stressed in the youtube video knowing where your strength resides in the skills you have. Yes! You must consider both what you enjoy doing in your work and free time and what you do not appreciate while transferring into any technical sector. Basically, your preferences. Additionally, you must keep a record of your proudest accomplishments in your career, course, or business to date. Start by defining your special skills, including hard skills (technical writing, programming, visual design, etc.) and soft skills (presentation skills, negotiation skills, communication skills, interpersonal skills, leadership abilities, etc.). Make a list of and make plans for the skills you want to gain in the future.

TRANSITIONING INTO TECH

It doesn't stop there once you've identified your strengths and begun learning a new talent. For instance, if you're a front-end developer, you can run into a lot of difficulties or issues while learning and will undoubtedly want assistance. One way to deal with this is to surround yourself with like-minded others, join a group that will help you become adept in the skills you're studying, and so on. Have a mentor you can turn to for advice when you run into problems that are out of your league, establish connections and networks, apply for internships to advance your career, volunteer, and take an active role.

ACCELERATING MY TECH JOURNEY

A method to accelerate your technology journey is through personal improvement. I can grow and work on myself by enrolling in at least one course a year. Additionally acceptable are courses with a direct connection to my field of work (e.g Frontend development,Backend development, game development, etc). Since technology is constantly evolving, I'll keep myself updated as well. and since playing games is another one of my interests, I might eventually migrate into game production and become a developer.
